Ben Thorpe, 71, of Dowling Park, Florida, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008. The Apalachicola, Florida native moved to Dowling Park, Florida two years ago from Moore Haven, Florida. Mr. Thorpe served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Thorpe of Dowling Park, Florida; three daughters, Scarlett Fox of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Melanie McCracken of Alva, Florida and Cyndi Flake of Bethesda, Maryland; son, William B. Thorpe Jr.; two sisters, Janette Holder of Texas and Rita Thorpe of New Mexico; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Thorpe.

Daniels Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. of Live Oak, Florida is in charge of all arrangements.
