ADEL — The life of an Adel man was claimed following a fatal four-wheeler accident Sunday on Overstreet Road at approximately 11 p.m.
Georgia State Patrol Troopers responded to the scene where Austin Moody, 30, and his 29-year-old male passenger had both been ejected from the 2001 Honda Foreman they had been riding. Moody was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he died of injuries sustained in the accident Tuesday afternoon. The passenger suffered only minor injuries and was not transported for medical treatment, according to GSP.
Reports indicate that the ATV was traveling west on Weeks Road when Moody failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Weeks and Overstreet Roads. The vehicle ran off the west edge of Overstreet Road and struck a tree, ejecting both men. The vehicle was rotated counterclockwise by the force of the accident and came to rest in the ditch facing south, according to reports.
The investigation remains ongoing pending the outcome of toxicology reports, according to the GSP.
Moody was a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear. He worked in construction and attended Valdosta State University.
He is survived by his parents, Greg and Deena Austin Moody of Adel; one brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Anne Moody of Valdosta; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Heidi and Clint Rountree, Adel, and Stephanie Moody, Waycross; maternal grandparents, Burr and Jackie Austin, Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
