Thomas H. Smith

Mr. Thomas H. Smith, 51, of Day, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 in Perry, Fla. He was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette County. Mr. Smith was the son of Zelda Ezell Dietrick and the late Louis C. Smith.
He was a maintenance planner for Buckeye Florida where he had worked for the last 34 years. Mr. Smith enjoyed team roping and was a member of the Suwannee River Horse Riding Club and the Taylor County Horseman’s Association. In his spare time, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding.
Mr. Smith is survived by, his wife of 29 years, Shan’na Bland Smith of Day, 1 son, Chris Smith, of Mayo, a daughter, Morgan Brooks, and husband, Jamie of Valdosta, GA, his mother, Zelda Dietrick, of Day, 1 brother, Ronnie Smith, and wife Phyllis, of Day, 3 grandchildren, Michael Smith, Dallas Brooks, and Caitlyn Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 in the sanctuary of Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, with Bro. Ted Anderson officiating. Interment followed in Day cemetery. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Mayo (386) 294-2658 who was in charge of all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Lafayette County Penny Foundation.
