Jane Merritt, 72, of Branford, Florida passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville after a long illness. The Branford native moved back to Branford twenty five years ago from Fort Walton Beach. Mrs. Merritt was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Branford.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Merritt of Branford; four daughters, Charlene Tippon, Pensacola; Patricia Hardy, Seminole, AL, Cathy Wilson, Cantonment, Fl. and Susan Vaughn, Register, GA; four sons, Ray Nelson, Craig Nelson both of Navarre Beach, Rick Merritt, Stapleton, Al and Frank Merritt, Branford; two brothers, John H. Cannon and Joe Pete Cannon both of Branford; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 4, 2008 at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Branford with Rev. Gordon Keller officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Daniels Funeral Homes and Crematory of Branford, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
