Police step up foot patrols

Notice more police officers walking around town lately? That’s because the Live Oak Police Department has stepped up its foot patrols in an effort to curb theft and violent crime.
“This is a community oriented policy, where an officer is out face to face with citizens and business owners,” Live Oak Police Chief Buddy Williams said. “It will give citizens a better way to give information to police and for the police to know the businesses in the community and the people.” Not to mention saving money on gas.
Williams said he wants citizens and business owners to be comfortable talking with local law enforcement. So next time you spot an officer, stop and chat, or just give them a wave.
