Moody is scheduled to host an educational play from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the base theater in an effort to spread awareness about sexual harassment and domestic violence. The play is called “The Yellow Dress”, which is based on a true story about Deana Brisbois, a 23-year-old woman who was involved in an abusive relationship before dying in a car accident.

Her family created the play to help prevent dating violence.

“This play allows people to learn first-hand that domestic violence and sexual abuse do happen everywhere,” said Frances Elmore, Moody’s Sexual Assault Response Coordinator. “It’s a non-traditional way of presenting these sensitive topics without briefings or Powerpoint presentations.”

Stacy Fischer will portray Deana and the play will be broken down to a 30-minute performance followed by a 30-minute interactive discussion with the audience.

For those airmen who aren’t able to make the base performance, they have a chance to see it at VSU, said Elmore. The play at VSU is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. Sept. 27 at Bailey Science Center. Everyone is invited to watch the performance at VSU.

Our goal is to educate and spread awareness about relationship violence, said Elmore.
