Rickerson, Dennis Merrill

Dennis Merrill Rickerson, age 84, passed away at his home of Feb. 19, 2009. Merrill was a life long member of the O’Brien community. He was a local business man and entrepreneur most well known as the owner of “Rickerson’s General Merchandise and Machine Shop in O’Brien until the mid 1970s. He continued his service to the O’Brien community as the mail carrier for the town until he retired. He lived his later years enjoying an occasional fishing trip, gardening and spending time with his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his father Dennis Rickerson, his mother Lessie Rickerson, his sister Audrey Fort and his wife Vera Rickerson. He is survived by his five children, Wayne Rickerson of Lake City; Cheryl “Susie” Boone of Lake City; William “Pedro” Rickerson, Jasper, Florida; Deanna Chassereau of Lake City and Dennis Rickerson of Dallas TX; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, also survive.
Grave side services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. in O’Brien Cemetery with Rev. George Fryar officiating. Visitation was held Monday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Daniels Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. of Branford was in charge of arrangements.
