John Travolta and Miley Cyrus provide the voices for this animated Disney romp about a TV action-hero pooch with no idea he’s not a real “super dog.” With a heartwarming story, colorful supporting characters (especially Rhino, a hamster who almost steals the show) and one of the best opening sequences of any movie from last year, it’s bow-wow-wonderful entertainment for the whole family. Extras on this two-disc edition include a digital copy of the movie for downloading, a “breakout” adventure starring Rhino and a behind-the-scenes look at Travola and Cyrus recording their parts. The 1953 Hollywood blockbuster—the first movie ever presented in the eye-popping widescreen wonder of CinemaScope—gets a new, colorfully colossal restoration for this Easter-timed DVD re-issue. The story of a Roman soldier (Richard Burton) whose life is changed after winning the robe of Christ in a gambling game at the foot of the cross, it also starred Jean Simmons and Victor Mature and went on to win two Academy Awards. Bonus features include a featurette that tells how it took 10 years, two Hollywood studios and over a dozen directors, screenwriters and leading men to bring Lloyd C.
