Sandra Lee McMullen Holton died May 5, 2009. Visitations will be on Friday, May 8, 2009 from 6:00-8:00PM at Daniel’s Funeral Home in Live Oak, FL. Graveside Services will be held 1:00PM on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Day Cemetery in Day, FL.
Mrs. Holton was born March 13, 1939 in Day, FL, grew up in Jacksonville, FL and lived for several years in Madison, FL, Cairo, GA and Athens, GA before moving to Macon 29 years ago. She was a dedicated Nursing Home Administrator for many years at facilities in Athens and Macon. She was a former member and past president of the Macon Chapter of Parents Without Partners. Sandra was a Baptist and former member of Mable White Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Holton was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. She loved to cook for her family (especially for her grandchildren), sew, and talk daily with her many friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Malcolm McMullen, Sr. and Lillian Plymel McMullen; a brother, John M. McMullen, Jr.; and a son, Sidney Prentiss Cherry, Jr.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth L. Cherry (Angela) of Macon, GA, and Thomas F. Cherry (Deena) of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Bridget Cherry and Zach Cherry of Madison, FL, Jessica Cherry and Daniel Cherry of Macon, GA; step-grandson, Hank Wallace of Warner Robins, GA; daughter-in-law, Cathy Cherry Bass of Madison, FL; brother, Ivan McMullen of Guyana; nephew, Ivan McMullen, Jr. (Kristina) of Homestead, FL; niece, Laura M. Winters (Andy) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and many cousins including Bobbie Blanton of Perry, FL and David Mitchell Burns of Tampa, FL as well as a host of dear friends.
