Members of the Lanier County Board of Education were recognized at the September board meeting for completing board member training activities as prescribed by Official Code of Georgia Section 20-2-230.
Training certificates were issued to each board member by Superintendent Keith Humphrey. These certificates had been supplied by the Georgia School Board Association in recognition of their excellence in completing ongoing in-service training. Board members Erlish Locklear, Randy Sirmans, Tommie Ruth White, Kim Giddens, and Franklin Patten all completed training. This training included information and work sessions on school governance, finance, and school improvement. Participating in this annual training not only complies with state board rules but allows the local board to continue to be recognized as a Standard Board.
In future months the board will consider taking the necessary steps to be named a Board of Excellence. The Lanier County Board of Education meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
