Billie English Murray, age 85, of Quitman, died on Monday, Oct. 27, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Lowndes County, Ga., she was the daughter of William J. and Martha Edna Peters English. She was a retired librarian assistant, a member of the Quitman United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Murray Jr.

She is survived by three sons, John E. Murray III of Dallas, Texas, David (Karen) Murray of Quitman, Phillip Murray of Midland, Mich.; two grandchildren, David L. Murray and Kristopher Murray; one sister, Virginia Warmack of Quitman; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Quitman United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
