VALDOSTA — Stephenson Jewelers has something for everyone following their reopening a month ago, including floral designs and gifts in addition to the jewelry.

Stephenson Jewelers is a family business that has been around since 1946.

After being away from Valdosta for two years, Chip Stephenson and his wife, Kim, decided to return to Valdosta and continue doing what they can do best — bring unique pieces of jewelry to the area, and provide jewelry and watch repair.

“We’ve been in St. Simons Island, but we decided to come back home and have a bigger store,” Chip Stephenson said. “Our family and friends are around, too.”

This time, however, they added more to the glamour — floral designs.

Connie Thomas is the floral designer and has over 35 years of experience in this practice. She can design and decorate homes, weddings, funerals, commercial space, and/or birthday parties.

Thomas said that they are expecting to have fresh flowers in December as well.

With Christmas fast approaching, Stephenson Jewelers offer gifts, unique home accessories and candles to make the holiday season special.



Q: Did you get any response already from customers about your return?



A: The reception has been nice. We’ve had a lot of our old customers coming back, and a lot of new people coming in, and everybody is amazed at how beautiful the place is. We’ll be glad if people can come here even if it’s just for a visit, just to look around.



Q: How are the prices? How is your business going during the economic downturn?



A: The recession and the high prices of gold makes it a little more difficult for the average person to make a purchase, but we try to keep our prices very, very reasonable, and try to provide really good service.



Q: What kind of services and items do you offer?



A: We do all kinds of repairs of jewelry and watches, and we carry a large inventory of gold, diamonds and gifts. We try to have something for everybody.



Q: What makes your business unique?



A: Good value and customer service — we do try to carry some unique selections both in jewelry and floral that you just don’t see anywhere else — one of a kind items put together by hand and reasonable prices. You need to have something different — you don’t want to look like the other store.
