Avon Lane McCall

Avon Lane McCall, 65, of Jacksonville, Fla., entered into Glory Friday, April 30, 2010, at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1944 to Elmer Avon and Mary Remmie Lane McCall and formerly lived in the Lake Park area. He was a chaplain assistant when he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. After becoming an ordained minister, he served many years ministering to several North Florida prisons. He attended the New Life Community Church in Lake Park.
Survivors include five daughters and sons in law, Dana and Jeff Duncan, Lauren and Kent Booth and Jordan Cotton, Cadance McCall, Haley McCall; son, Remington McCall; grandchildren, Trey Cotton, Brendan Booth, Cassie Cotton, Emma Martin, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; mother, Remmie Lane McCall of Lake Park; three sisters and brother in law, Susan McCall, Rebecca Tomlinson of Lake Park, Ruth and Ken Solarz of Upsala, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Avon McCall; maternal grandparents, Ethel Z. and Ralph B. Lane, paternal grandparents, Ruth Holton and Tom E. McCall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park Rev. Keith Allsbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 until service time on Tuesday.
