Carl L. Camon, former mayor of Ray City and a candidate in the Georgia gubernatorial campaign, and his wife Angela were in a car accident at about 1 p.m. Monday, according to  a press release.

The Camons were taken to a local emergency room for evaluation after their car was rear-ended by an unknown driver, according to the press release, which was issued by the Democratic Party of Georgia.

Both Camons are “considered to be in stable condition and are in close communication with campaign staff,” according to the release.

As a result of the accident, Mr. Camon ’s campaign manager, Jameson Brewer, has announced all of Camon’s events for the week of May 17-22 as cancelled, the release says.
