Rant & Rave – May 21
Published 4:02 pm Thursday, May 20, 2010
Suwannee Countians, it’s time to speak your mind! How? By calling the Suwannee Democrat Rant and Rave hotline. The hotline never closes and is your way to let it out. You can let everyone know how you feel — as long as you express yourself in a respectful way.
Note: In written entries to Rant and Rave, errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation are those of the authors.

The City Council is talking about political signs on city-owned property. They probably never read the state statutes which already forbid that and then they say they want to approve putting signs on right of ways of roads. State statute already forbids that. So why are you going to try to pass a law that negates a state law? They need to go back and study. Thank you.

Top five reasons to re-elect Sonny Nobles as Mayor of Live Oak.
1. Sonny is a proven conservative leader.
2. Sonny represents our city well.
3. Sonny has the ability to communicate with constituents of all ages.
4. Sonny is a man of integrity.
5. Sonny cares – not just about our community but its citizens as well.

To fellow students in Suwannee County: Remember to turn in all your text books and library books by June 1. That way the teachers can’t teach us anything and we’ll have a week for parties and fun movies.

I am still waiting to see to see if the Democrat will sponsor a debate between the two non-partisan mayoral candidates. Apparently you haven’t taken a stand on this or made an effort, at least not out in public. Time is running out. I believe there is more to being a newspaper than just selling ads. Thank you.

I would like to say that Wayne Musgrove is a modern day hero for the work that he does. He stands up for victims who may have never had anyone stand up for them in their life. And the work that he does is awesome and I just believe that he is a hero. He definitely is a hero in my eyes. Thank you.

Sonny Nobles has been eating at the public trough of taxpayers’ money for 40 years and I think that is enough, let’s vote him out. Thank you.

When State and County governments have frozen hiring due to the present economic crisis, why has the Finance Dept. of the City of Live Oak requested another employee? A thank you goes to Councilman Stewart for questioning the hiring of yet another employee for this department. In the past two years the Finance Department has already increased their payroll by either hiring additional employees or advancing present employees to higher paying positions. The City’s population has NOT increased and some of the previous duties of this department have been outsourced to OMI. Some councilmen do NOT want to cut spending. Perhaps taxpayers and voters should consider this excess spending when casting their ballots for officials.
