Live Oak Mayor Garth R. “Sonny” Nobles won re-election Tuesday, defeating challenger Brant Helvenston 712 votes to 702.
The race was a rematch of a May 4 contest that saw the pair tied with 672 votes each.
“I’m very, very happy over the outcome, not only for myself and my family but for my supporters,” said Nobles.
In the two other races on the ballot, John Gill defeated Tommy D. Daniels in a runoff for Live Oak City Clerk, 876 to 527, and Adam Prins ousted incumbent Mark Stewart to claim the District 4 City Council seat, 232 to 219.
“I’m overwhelmed and I’m thankful,” said Gill.
Prins was elated to win.
