Ellis Starling

Ellis Starling, 79, a resident of Branford, Florida passed away June 1, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Starling was a native of Lafayette County and had resided there for the past fifteen years. Prior to living in Lafayette County he had resided in Lake City for ten years and Jacksonville for thirty-five years. He is the son of the late William Guy and Sarah Toleathia Bates Starling. Mr. Starling enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 130 in Branford, Florida. He was a member of the Ephesus Advent Christian Church of Branford, Florida. He is preceded in death by his son, William Alfred Starling one sister, Dorothy Collins and four brothers, Paul Starling, Billy Starling, Guy Starling and A.T. Starling.

Survivors include one daughter: Shirley (Sherman) Conger, Watertown, Tenn. Two sons:  Donald Cecil Starling, Branford, Fla. and Ellis Ray Starling, Brunswick, Ga. One sister: Edith Johnson, Lake City, Fla. One brother:  Manuel (Mary) Starling, Branford, Fla. Six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Starling were conducted Friday, June 4, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Starling officiating.  Interment followed in the Maypop Cemetery, Mayo, Florida. The family received friends Thursday June 3, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Guerry Funeral Home 2659 SW. Main Blvd. Lake City is in charge of all arrangements. 386-752-2414.
