Patricia Louise Moon Brown

Patricia Louise Moon Brown, wife of Wayne Merwin Brown, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Patricia was born in Columbus, Ohio, November 12, 1938, a daughter of the late Donald Leroy and Twila Rice Moon.

She worked as a Home Health Aid with the Houston County Health Department for the past eighteen years and was a member of the Mayo United Methodist Church in Mayo, Florida.

A memborial service will be held at a later date.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Mark Butka, Cottonwood, Alabama; a sister; Twila Carolyn (Lee) Hill, Melbourne, Florida; a step sister, Janet Haas, Xenia, Ohio; and a grandson, Robert Sanders Wilkerson, Cottonwood, Alabama.  

Southern Heritage is assisting the Brown family.

Catherine Elaine Houben

Catherine Elaine Houben, 55, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 following a short illness .

Mrs. Houben moved to the Branford area in 1977 from Central Florida. She was a correctional officer at Mayo Correctional Institute, Mayo, Fla.  and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 18? years, Carl Lewis Houben of Branford, Fla., her Father, John D. & Pat Tyner of Sanford, Fla. Mother, Ann L. Dorton of DeBerry, Fla., Daughters, Katina & Travis Hovis of Birmingham, AL, Alisha DeMaura of McAlpin, Fla., Tina & Bill Branvold of Oviedo, Fla.., Cathy Copeland of Maitland, Fla., Sons , Jason & Leslie Cowdery of Branford, Fla., Johathan & Katie Cowdery of Dolphin, VA, Carl & Judy Houben, Jr., of Smethport, PA, Terry & Debbie Houben of Coudersport, PA, Sister, Brenda & Henry Gilmore of Deltona, Fla., Brothers, Richard & Caroline Dorton of Deberry, Fla., four step brothers, John Dorton of Deland, Fla., Patrick Dorton of Deland,  Fla., Marvin Dorton of Sanford, Fla., Steve & Dana Dorton, of Phoenix, AZ, Maternal Grandmother, Minnie Ransbottom of Deberry, Fla., 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grand children also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday December 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Dunn officiating

Betty Jean Kent

September 20 1938 – November 9, 2010

Betty Jean Kent, age 72, of Branford, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at her home in Branford. The Baltimore, MD native moved to Branford, Fla., in 1982 from Orlando, Fla. Betty worked for many years as a waitress for Woolworths. In her younger years she played and coached softball. In her spare time she enjoyed working with ceramics.

She is survived by one son, James “Bo” Kent, Macon, Ga; one daughter, Terry Townsend, Mayo, Fla.; one brother, Donald (Betty) Durm, Springhill, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie (Jay) Weyant, Baltimore, MD; Rose Durm, Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
