Lots of basketball in Randall Godfrey Christmas Classic

Over the next few days, there will be a lot of basketball games played at Lowndes High School.
The sixth annual Randall Godfrey Christmas Classic begins today at Lowndes High School. A total of 26 games will be played in the tournament, which takes place today, Monday and Tuesday.
“It should be an exciting tournament,” Lowndes girls coach Shan Garner said. “We’ve got some good matchups.”
There will be eight games today, beginning at 9 a.m. Cairo’s girls will play Coffee at 9 a.m. Fitzgerald’s girls will face Thomas County Central at 10:30 a.m. The Brooks County girls will take on Brunswick at noon, then Thomas County Central’s boys will battle Coffee at 1:30 p.m. Brooks County’s boys will face Gordon Central at 3 p.m.
The Valdosta High boys team will play Ware County at 4:30 p.m. Then host Lowndes will play in the final two games of the day. Lowndes’ girls will take on Wayne County at 6 p.m., then Lowndes’ boys will play Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m.
Lowndes’ teams will play in the final two games of the day all three days. The LHS girls, who are 8-0 and ranked No. 10 in Class AAAAA, will play Brunswick on Monday and Cairo on Tuesday, with both games scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Lowndes’ boys (6-1) will play Thomas County Central on Monday and Valdosta on Tuesday, with both games scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
Valdosta’s boys team, which is 5-1, will play Brooks County at 6 p.m. on Monday and crosstown rival Lowndes in the final game of the tournament at 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
The boys and girls teams from Brooks County will also play all three days.
There will be nine games played on Monday, and nine more on Tuesday.
Admission to the tournament is $7 each day for adults and $5 for students.
