Laura Lorene Keen
Laura Lorene Keen, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette County, and was the daughter of the late Leslie, and Laura Estelle Mills Perry. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and worked as Judge’s Secretary. Mrs. Keen enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, sewing, crocheting and cooking.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Marcus and Ginger Calhoun of Mayo, FL, (2) grandchildren; Samantha and Kendall.
Funeral Services were held at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11 A.M. with Bro. Charlie Walker officiating. Interment followed at Bethany Cemetery. Family received friends at Burns Mayo Chapel on Friday evening from 6 pm – 8 pm.

Frances Elizabeth (Pierce) Smith
Frances Elizabeth (Pierce) Smith passed away on December 30, 2010 in Gainesville, FL due to unforeseen complications following a recent surgery.
She was surrounded by her family as she went to be with her Lord and she left the worries and pains of this world behind peacefully.
She was born December 22, 1933 in Madison, FL and had lived in Live Oak since 1961.
She is survived by her brother George Pierce, of Earleton, FL; her four sons, Danny, of Tallahassee; Carl, of Live Oak; Terry, of Tampa; and Jeff, of Brookfield, CT and 5 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, R. Govan Smith, who passed away in 1988.
She was a long time member of Westwood Baptist Church of Live Oak. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star #8 of Live Oak. She also served as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary in Live Oak. She was an Honorary Member of Rocky Sink Lodge #88 of Live Oak
Funeral services were conducted January 3, 2010 at Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, FL with the Rev. Matt Swain officiating and the eulogy presented by Rev. Leroy Dobbs of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Interment followed in Day Cemetery after Eastern Star services were performed at graveside.
Funeral arrangements were made by Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Live Oak, FL.
Ottie Hewitt Sullivan
Ottie Hewitt Sullivan, age 91, of Mayo, Florida, passed away on January 16, 2011 at Shands of Lake Shore Hospital. Mrs. Sullivan was a lifelong resident of Mayo, and was a member of Alton Church of God. She was a homemaker who raised four children on the family farm, a loving sister, friend to many, and a devoted grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jim Sullivan, her son, Bill Sullivan and sister Onie Land.
Survived by her sister, Doris Hurst, and her children, Lewin Sullivan, Kay Green (Windell), and Jody Sullivan (JoAnn), (4) grandchildren, (11) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home. The viewing was held from 6 pm – 8 pm at Airline Baptist Church in Mayo on Monday, January 17, 2011. The Funeral followed on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2 P.M. at Airline Baptist Church. Interment followed at Alton Church of God Cemetery.
