New lecture hall honors longtime friends of VSU

Visitors browse one of two 350-seat auditorium-style classrooms in Valdosta State University’s new 15,700-square-foot Jerry and Kay Jennett Lecture Hall following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.

Jerry and Kay Jennett received recognition of their continuous support of education with the dedication of Valdosta State University’s Jerry and Kay Jennett Lecture Hall during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.

Dr. Patrick Schloss, VSU president, credited the Jennetts with helping the university evolve over the years.

“Your focus, your energy and your generosity has enabled this transformation,” he said.

In November 2010, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved naming VSU’s newest academic building in honor of Jerry and Kay Jennett for their significant philanthropic efforts.

The Jennetts have been involved in a number of activities at Valdosta State University, from providing scholarships to providing input on the construction of various buildings.

“You’ve very special individuals and you’re very dear friends,” Schloss said.

The Jennetts are involved with VSU athletics, music and theater and maintain relationships with VSU professors, coaches, deans, department heads, students and presidents.
