Live Oak’s Administrative and Finance Committee put to rest the issue of a possible building department merger between the city of Live Oak and Suwannee County during a committee meeting recently.

Councilman Adam Prins presented the issue before the full council in January. After a brief consult with the county, it was the consensus of the city to not go further with the issue. Meanwhile, Prins decided earlier this month to continue talks with the county himself in an effort to save the measure.
The proposal, however, was shot down Tuesday night at City Hall after a vote of the committee members determined the issue not go back before council members for any possible merger of the two departments.
