Rant & Rave – April 1

OK, come on Suwannee County let’s talk some TRASH! We live in one of the most beautiful counties in Florida. BUT we have a litter problem here. We need everyone to start pitching in and cleaning up this litter! Even if we all just pick up one piece of litter it will make a big difference, PLUS it will be great exercise for all. We can do this but we need the help from  everyone and that includes our places of worship and our local businesses. Please find the time to make a difference! Thank you!!

Regarding the trash on our roads…

God helps those who help themselves right?  Look, we’re going to have slobs and people who just don’t care.. but personally.. I don’t really want to look at trash on the side of the roads.  So here is what I am suggesting.. CLEAN IT UP!  Don’t wait for the county to send a worker.. or the jail to send a inmate.. DO IT YOURSELF!  Keep a trash bag and gloves in your car and when you’re driving along and see garbage on the road.. stop and pick it up if you can.   I’m telling you from experience.. it makes a huge difference in a short period of time.

Lets do it together.  Get with your friends and neighbors, pick a road, work together.

And a suggestion to our county leaders.  You know that litter is a problem in our county.  Get road signs out there so that the litter bugs know that that it is not ok to litter here and if caught, there will be a hefty fine.   After a few fines are dealt out, the word should get around.

Very Truly Yours,

McAlpin Mama for the beautification of Suwannee County Roadways

The question now arises as to why 40% of petitions for Suwannee YES are ineligible. Is it because the elections office records are in the same shape as the appraisers office? Are these ineligble voters casting ballots regularly to keep voting in the status quo? Does this state of things benefit the all powerful good old boys? This was the manuever Madison Co. used to defeat it, a vast number of bogus voters. Is this the overpaid county gov’ts. doing, possibly dooming the will of the people once again? If this proves to be the case, the states election office will be requested to investigate & the county will have to make good on it!!!

Yes, I would just like to comment on a lot of the things that have been going on in our community today. Things that need to be addressed, about the bullying and everything. I am all for standing up for our children and doing everything possible to get control of the situation. But you also have to be very careful not to blow it completely over top so that it gets to the point that if someone just sticks his tongue out at you, that’s considered bullying because it is not. People need to educate themselves and learn the facts, so that things don’t get so out of hand. Kids are going to be kids and they are going to have knit picking and stuff like that and that is not bullying, so let’s just all come together as a community to fix the problems but just make sure it doesn’t go over the top, cause we don’t need that. Thank you.

Well like everything else half way in Suwannee county. Have you all noticed that Suwannee county is supposed to be a dry county? Why (and this is just my opinion)even sell beer in Suwannee county, if it is a “DRY” county. Please correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t dry mean dry and not HALF dry. If the “WET” issue does not pass then I (again this is only my opinion)would like to propose that Suwannee county be all the way dry, and not half way like everything else there. If people want beer, wine or liquor then they will drive to the surrounding counties to get it. Some of them being drunk or drinking on the way there could possibly hit and injure or worse, kill one of our loved ones.

Mr. Gwinn, I received your petition today and I looked it over, very dissatisfied with it. Why don’t you and your people spend as much time trying to help Suwannee County and it’s citizens as you do trying to tear them down. Anyone knows that alcohol brings problems, just like drugs which we  have enough of,  in Suwannee County. So I am going to be like that famous lady Ms. Nancy Regan, and say to the people of  Suwannee County  just say “no.” Just say no! And by the way, I think you should step down from the Development Authority. Thank you.

If the people of Suwannee County can’t make up their mind about voting this county wet or dry, ask yourself this question, “what would Jesus do?” And then I think maybe you can make up your mind. Thank you.

I am calling about Suwannee County Fair and how they have the talent show every year. And every year I have called them and asked if bands can be allowed, and they say no, that is just their rules, and that is not right. What kind of talent do you have if you don’t have a band.  These are people with a lot of talent. These four or five members with great talent but they can’t show it to the City of Live Oak, because the Suwannee County Fair won’t let a band come. That is just not fair and we need to do something about it, cause it is just not right.

I want to know what is wrong with the Democrat. Sometimes you get the paper and you get three sections in it, and sometimes you get the paper and you don’t have but two sections in it. It must be the packers that is packing the inserts in the papers, they need to aware of what is going on and they need to pay attention to what they are doing, because half the time you don’t get a third section in them.

Sometimes there are only two, sections. Sometimes three. The amount of sections has always been located at the top of the paper, next to the date. That way you know you are not missing anything. – Editor

The wild flowers are just beginning to bloom along the roadsides in Suwannee County. They are a beautiful and welcome sight and I hope the Road Department will let us enjoy them rather than rushing to mow them down  as they did last year. Thank you.
