The Valdosta theme park confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Parton will perform a concert sometime this year, said Micha Hogan, a Wild Adventures spokesperson. Parton’s Wild Adventures concert date will be announced in July.

Parton’s South Georgia fans have been awaiting this announcement since Herschend Family Entertainment purchased the park several years ago.

“Dolly Parton is a special member of the Wild Adventures family as Herschend Family Entertainment, Wild Adventures’ parent company, is the operating partner with Parton in Tennessee’s Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country,” Hogan said.

For the past few years, fans have been asking when she would play Wild Adventures, Hogan said.

Though festival seating is included in the park’s regular admission for all concerts, Wild Adventures also offers reserved seating for an additional price. Season passholders will have the first opportunity to purchase reserved seating for Dolly Parton’s show.

Parton has been called the “Queen of Country Music.” She has earned 25 No. 1 singles and 41 Top 10 country albums. She has performed on a top-five song in each of the last five decades, and has had No. 1 country singles in four consecutive decades.

From her years singing on the TV-syndicated “Porter Wagoner Show” to starring in movies like “Nine to Five,” Parton has been a sensation in several formats as well as a cross-over artist with hits on country and pop charts. Her hits include “Coat of Many Colors,” “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Here You Come Again,” “Islands in the Stream” (with Kenny Rogers), etc.

Parton is also associated with Valdosta Rotary clubs through her Imagination Library. Through the Imagination Library and the Ferst Foundation, Valdosta Rotary clubs provide a book per month to numerous area children under the age of 5.

Wild Adventures plans to announce more details about Parton’s concert in the weeks to come.
