Mr. Emory C. Parrish, age 81 of Smyrna, Ga., passed away Saturday June 25, 2011 at Atlanta Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 29, 2011 at the Smyrna First United Methodist Church, Burial will follow in the Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.

Born in Adel, Ga., to J.J. and Ada belle Parrish, Mr. Parrish earned both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a registered professional Engineer in Georgia, Mr. Parrish was employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation for 34 years, serving the last 16 years of his Career as The Deputy Commissioner. Mr. Parrish also retired from the United States Army as Major General with 33 years of Active and Reserve Duty and was a long time member of the Smyrna First United Methodist Church and an Active member of the Smyrna Golden K Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nelda Futch Parrish, other survivors include Sister-Valera Clements , Brother- Alan Parrish , Daughter and Son-in-law Melanie and Bil Johnson , Son and Daughter-in-Law Danny and Karen Parrish , Two granchildren and Spouses Dana Johnson Key and Army Major David Key , Lucas Parrish Johnson and Candice Ogilvie-Johnson. Two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Wright and Carlton Smith. Two great grandchildren, Jessa and Spencer Key.
