Beverly M. Brunelle
Sept. 18, 1940 – Oct. 9, 2011
We lost our Mother, our Grandmother, our Sister, our Aunt, and our Friend, Beverly Brunelle, on Oct. 9, 2011, shortly following her 71st birthday. She was preceded on her journey home by her husband, Gerard Brunelle (her soulmate); her brother, Carl Hagert; and her beloved dog, Precious. We’re sure they will be reunited and continue to watch over us from the heavens above. She is survived by her son, Todd Blonhine, his wife, Cathy and four children, Anna (and husband, Joshua) VandenEnde, Mary, Elliot and William; her daughter, Lisa Blonshine, her husband Jeff and daughter, Jamie; her son, Patrick Laudone, his wife, Jennifer and sons, Joshua and Joseph; her daughter, Georgina Laudone, her fiance, Anthony and children Angelica and Sarah; sister, Sandra Cassano; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Hagert; and several nieces and nephews.
Beverly was a C.P.A. who not only worked diligently for her clients, but also built long-lasting friendships with many of them. She was a shoot-from-the-hip accountant who told it like it was and would fight for a client’s rights with everything she had. She had compassion for those in need and opened her heart and home to many. She raised and sold thoroughbred horses for several years at her “Heaven on Earth”, her farm in Live Oak, Florida. She loved to garden, but was disappointed that tax season always fell in the middle of planting season. She would know a stranger’s life history in less than an hour, chatting with people in supermarket lines, at roadside stands, in doctors’ offices, or anywhere she would meet an individual she did not know. Bev was not your typical CPA – no business suits, no fancy office, no messing with her individuality. If she liked you, she’d work with you. If you were not her cup of tea, she would tell you that. She didn’t pull punches but would give you food if you had none, would take you in if you needed a place to stay. She was a strong model for women’s capabilities and expectations, proving that age and circumstances were no hurdles as determination and spirit paved the way for her to graduate college with a high point average and pass her CPA exams at her first sitting when she was an adult with four children.
She will be missed by her family, her friends, and her clients , but we will all remember how she touched our hearts and blessed us with her knowledge, her thoughtfulness, and most of all, her love.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, or your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter. Because Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday and she and Jerry had established the tradition of a huge family gathering over that ling weekend, a remembrance service will be held at 8277 163rd Place, Live Oak, FL. at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011.
