VSU soccer left out of NCAA tournament field

The Valdosta State soccer team’s innagural season came to an end on Monday night, when they were left out of the NCAA Division II tournament field.

The Blazers finished their innagural season with an 11-6-2 record, falling to North Alabama (17-3) in the Gulf South Conference tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Saint Leo (15-2-1) claimed the No. 1 seed in the South Region, while Rollins (14-2-2) earned the second seed. Both teams earned a first round bye.

Florida Tech (11-4-1) will battle Lynn (9-6-1), while Tampa (13-5-2) will face North Alabama in the first round matchups.

Of the 48 teams announced in the tournament field, five have less wins than Valdosta State, including Lynn. Two other teams, Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State Chico have the same amount of wins as VSU (11).

The Blazers will return all 27 players from this year’s roster,.

Among those returning is Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year, Abbie Edwards.
