Fain Skinner okay after Homestead crash

Fain Skinner’s hopes of completing every race in his four race schedule during NASCAR’s 2011 Nationwide Series ended suddenly during the second lap of the Ford 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead Saturday afternoon.

The 200 lap race was underway and Live Oak native Fain Skinner had already worked up the field six spots and was in the thirty-second position when the number 14 car, driven by Eric McClure, made contact with the right rear of Skinner’s number 39 Carport Empire.com Rimrock Ford Mustang.
Following the accident, Skinner was taken to the infield care center for initial observation. He later went to a nearby hospital for precautionary x-rays and a CT Scan. Fortunately everything checked out okay for Skinner and he was released from the hospital.
“The Homestead race was that car’s second race and the accident pretty much killed it,” Skinner said.
