The Suwannee County School people in charge of hiring and firing have totally showed their weakness an ineptitude in firing Coach Bond at BHS. Even college

coaches are not expected to turn a team around in one year. I am embarrassed and have no respect for those who fired Coach Bond. It takes more than a coach, it takes
good football players too.

Public officials must expect criticism, deserved or not, & be prepared to oblige the whims of the populace, personal veiws aside. The dump & liquor issues stand out locally. Serve 2 terms & return to private persuits, not taxpayer funded careers. Failing to see this wisdom, then term limits. The motivation should be benificial & humble service, not power, money & dynastic legacies. Over the past 40 yrs., many have lost sight of this & it is a major factor in the turmoil plauging our unique country today. Anyone in the public eye who doesn’t draw ire must accomplish little or nothing at all.

I would like to comment on all of the garbage on the ground around Live Oak. On 129th Rd. and Bass Rd. the tractors that mow the sides of the roads routinely just mow over the trash, scattering it into thousands more pieces than it was before. This is a complete disgrace. I’m not sure who is in charge of this, but they need to have the garbage picked up before they mow. Seriously, is this truly the best our county can do? If so, I’m deeply ashamed.

What in the world is going on at the Suwannee Valley Transit Authority? I have been trying to get in contact with the director since late August. Yes, AUGUST! Every time I call she is in a “meeting”. The nice lady who answers the phone always says the director will call or email back, but so far, the only response I’ve received is silence. This is pretty shabby public service, and in my opinion maybe we need a director who will actually acknowledge the public that they supposedly work for.

Please City of Live Oak make the people put their trash somewhere else than beside the road unless it is pickup day. Some ordinance needs to be passed for annoying and barking dogs also. If you have a pet at least be cosiderate of those around you and not let your pets bark all day and night. I am not allowed to walk in my back yard with out hearing constatnt barking and neighbors that don’t care.

I would like to thank Councilman Adam Prins for being the first political figure in our community to step up to the plate to oppose the proposed landfill. It took courage and a strong sense of justice to undertake this task. Thank you Mr. Prins for looking out for our community!

My family moved to Suwannee County 15 years ago. Upon buying our 8 1/2 acre plot, we felt as though we bought our own private campground; a dream come true for us. Now that vision has turned nightmarish with the proposed landfill located at Live Oak’s front gate. It’s as though a future albatross was hung around all our necks.
Facts:
1: Landfills may be noisy with traffic, dusty and smelly: in addition, windblown litter, pests and flies may be a problem.
2: Biodegradable matter in landfills is decomposed by bacteria, producing large quantities of carbon dioxide and methane – greenhouse gases. Methane is explosive and can cause fires. Heavy metals and toxic chemical waste may contaminate the environment.
3: People living near landfills may be exposed to chemicals released into the air, water, or soil, during operations. Local surface water, groundwater can become contaminated; drinking water may become polluted. Also landfills may affect locally grown produce rendering such food a health risk.
4: Landfills can become financial burdens. They need constant monitoring for gas contamination of nearby land, waterways and groundwater. (informaction.org)
Please stop this proposed Filthy Welcome Mat from becoming Live Oak’s salutation?

I’m calling about the landfill. I’m just wondering why people worry about rats, birds and the smell when they need to be worried about methane gas at this point in time. Methane gas is very poisonous to humans and it can also cause fires and explosions. But I guess they want that here in Suwannee County.

It’s unfortunate, but many in our community don’t understand the importance of spaying/neutering and vaccinating cats.
Cats are far more likely to transmit rabies than are dogs. They are also responsible for the decimation of the song bird population in the U.S. Wild and un-vaccinated cats transmit feline leukemia to domestic cats.
It’s time this community came together to solve the problem of feral and uncared for cats. I would think, given the Rabies alert, the county could obtain enough grants and community support to end this problem once and for all.
