Three Valdosta State football players received Super Region Two honors Wednesday, as two were named All-Region while one received Academic All-Region honors.
Senior safety Harrison Dreiling earned first team All-Region honors. Dreiling finished the year second on the team with 86 tackles. The Augusta, Kan. native tallied 45 solo stops and 41 assists while also recording three interceptions and four passes broken up.
Dreiling was the top vote getter among safeties in the region in a voting of Super Region Two Sports Information Directors.
He was joined on the All-Region team by junior offensive tackle Ryan Schraeder, who garnered second team honors. Schraeder started all 10 games for the Blazers on the year and participated in 622 of VSU’s 628 offensive plays. He graded out at 92.6 percent on the season and recorded 22 knockdown blocks while allowing just 1.0 sack and two quarterback hits on the season.
Sophomore wide receiver Griffin Roelle also earned recognition, as he was named first team Capital One Academic All-Region. Roelle, a Psychology major with a 3.66 grade point average, led Valdosta State with 35 catches during the 2011 season while recording 395 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Both Dreiling and Roelle advance to the national ballots by earning first team honors.
