The Lowndes varsity baseball team was the first to have a game canceled, as the Vikings were set to meet Hoover (Ala.) in Tallahassee, Fla.

Instead, the Vikings and Buccaneers will meet today at 1 p.m., while the Vikings’ game versus Chiles (Fla.) has yet to be rescheduled for a later date.

In Valdosta, heavy rain soaked Bazemore Field, leading the cancellation of the Wildcat Invitational, which would have featured Valdosta hosting the Cook Hornets.

A rescheduled date was not announced. The tournament will continue today with Berrien facing Eastside at 11 a.m.

At Valdosta State University, heavy rain late in the afternoon led the cancellation of VSU’s game with Barry.  The other two games that made up the Holiday Inn Classic were able to finish, although game two was delayed for more than four hours.

Weather will likely not be a factor today, as there is just a 20 percent chance of rain, although Sunday’s forecast features another chance of steady rain, which could affect Day Three of the Holiday Inn Classic at VSU’s Billy Grant Field.
