These Warriors from south Florida were three of many that donated their shoes to GreenSneakers, an organization that gives the tennis shoes a second chance. In 2011, Warriors donated 500,000 pounds of tennis shoes. 

Local runners, and visitors from all over the country braved the elements of pounding rain, thunder and lightning, and the blazing sun to cross the finish line at the 2012 Warrior Dash that invaded Camp Weed on Saturday.

Fire, tires, barbed wire and mud obstacles challenged runners at Warrior Dash. It is the world’s largest running series. It is a 5K, or 3.02 miles, of obstacles sure to test one’s physical threshold. The event has been at more than 65 locations across the globe.

According to race results, there were 4,486 runners that finished the dash. Among them were Lindsay Michal placed fifth in the 14-19 age category, with a run time of 29:54.0. Joe Flanagan finished with a time 35:56.50. Tori Wood finished the 5K with a time of 47:53.05.  Lacey Van Etta and Erin O’Connor crossed the finish line together for a time of 39:52.30. Zach Chandler finished at 30:53.80. Caroline Wood had a time of 47:56.60. Dana McMullen clocked in at 36:58.75. There were many others that braved the elements and the intense course.
