W. Lee Wood, 90, of Tifton, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Elder John Shelton Mikell and Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Larry Golden, Larry Ross, Irvin Branch, Jr., Nathan Brantley, Jimmy Ross, Bobby Walker, and Paul Moyer will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Wood was born October 30, 1921, in Tift County to the late R. D. Wood, Sr., and Annie Laura Browning Wood.

Mr. Wood graduated from Tifton High School. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in North Africa and had been a member of the American Legion for 53 years. He retired as a mobile homes parts salesman and had worked part time as a deputy sheriff in Crisp County. He also had worked at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors for many years. Mr. Wood was a member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church.  He was a Past Worshipful Master in the Masons and a member of the York Rite. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and tending his farm, especially his pecan trees.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Erma Faye Cravey Wood, to whom he had been married 64 years; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Teekeela and Ray Saunders of Tifton and Tonya and Gary Harrell of Valdosta; one brother and one sister-in-law, Denson and Jaque Wood of Homerville; his grandchildren, Jennifer Harrell, Kyle and Ashley Harrell, and Candis and Josh Davis; and one great-grandchild, Jaeden Davis.
