The Blazers (48-3) beat Delta State 9-1 in a six inning run-rule to claim the championship.

Courtney Albritton went a perfect four for four with two singles, a double and a home run — she just a triple shy of the cycle — to earn the honor as Most Oustanding Player. She scored three runs with two RBI.

Also with an impressive day was senior right fielder Clare Wamsley, who went two for three and knocked a triple and her second home run of the season down the left line, scoring two runs with one RBI. Morgan Johnson was also two for three while Marti Littelfield extended her conference RBI record with one on a one for two performance. Ashley Steinhilber picked up the winning RBI with a two-RBI double in the first inning.

Alanna Hadley improved to 26-2 for the season. She struck out two, walked two and allowed just four hits and one run.

Valdosta State will serve as the No. 1 seed in the South Regional Tournament, which will be held at the VSU Softball Complex in Valdosta starting Friday. The Blazers will host the No. 8 seed from the South Region, which will be awarded to the champion of the Southern Intercollegaite Athletic Conference.

A complete list of teams competing in the tournament will be released Monday morning at 10 a.m. Following the announcement, a complete tournament schedule will be released Monday afternoon or sometime Tuesday.
