Debby’s movement uncertain

Tropical Storm Debby now moves to the northeast at about six miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The center of the storm was located about 105 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola Sunday afternoon. According to the NWS, no significant motion is expected during the next 12 to 24 hours and the track beyond that time is highly uncertain.

Forecasters now expect the tropical storm to produce rain accumulations of five to 10 inches along the immediate gulf coast from southeast Louisiana to the central west coast of Florida, with isolated amounts of 15 inches possible.

According to the NWS, a tropical storm warning is in effect along the Gulf Coast southward to the Suwannee River. A tropical storm watch is in effect south of the Suwannee River to Anclote Key, Fla.

Forecasters say there is a 90 percent chance of rainfall in our area for this afternoon, an 80 percent chance tonight and a 50 percent chance of showers on Monday.
