Branford River Reunion still on

Branford River Reunion 4th of July event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 4. The Opening Ceremony begins at 12-noon, at Hatch Park, in Branford. The Herold White Band will be playing music all day, beginning after the Opening Ceremonies. The chalk mural, jump rope and hula hooping event starts at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., competitors can sign up for the Bedrock Derby. The event starts at 4 p.m. The parade will be at 6 p.m. Line-up begins at 5 p.m. at the Branford High School Buccaneer Stadium. There will be awards given for floats entered into the parade, sponsored by Lafayette State Bank. To ride in the parade, please contact Kathy at 386-365-0703.
The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m., at Hatch Park.
Other events happening in Branford throughout the day are the Rotary Club of Branford’s annual Duck Race, at Ivey Memorial Park, on the Suwannee River, at 2 p.m.;  CrossHeir Outfitters is having a 4th of July Barbeque Grazing Competition, for eaters and competitors, at Hatch Park from 3 to 7 p.m.; Branford Outfitters is having a Canoe and Kayak Race, from Little River Springs to Ivey Memorial Park, this morning; and the Suwannee River Riding Club is having a Benefit Barrel Race, starting at 10 a.m.

* Rotary Club of Branford Duck Race

The Rotary Club of Branford’s annual Duck Race is at 2 p.m., today, at Ivey Memorial Park. Tickets for the event are still available at local businesses throughout Branford or they can be purchased from Branford Rotarians at the park.
Proceeds from the race go to the Rotary College Fund and toward community projects. The top prize is $500, plus many prizes will be awarded.

* CrossHeir Outfitters


Eaters and competitors welcome at CrossHeir Outfitter’s 4th of July Barbeque Grazing Competition. The event is today, at Hatch Park, from 3 to 7 p.m. For more information on the event, please contact Robert Bradow, 386-208-9207. * Branford Outfitters

The Branford Outfitters is hosting the 4th of July Canoe and Kayak Race. The race will begin at Little River Springs and end at Branford Springs, at Ivey Memorial Park, in Branford. Following the race they will be serving lunch and refreshments for race participants. The race is a 50/50 race, with the winners of the canoe and kayak divisions each receiving 25 percent of the registration fees.

* Suwannee River Riding Club

The Suwannee River Riding Club is hosting a 4th of July Benefit Barrel Race Bridget Mathis, 3, of Hatch Bend, who has leukemia. The race starts at 10 a.m. The concession stand will be open and there will be raffles and an auction to benefit Mathis. According to SRRC president Darrell Summers, the event will go until the last horse runs.
