- A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat sits Tuesday near the area where a Hamilton County man went missing in the Suwannee River at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. The search continues.
A Hamilton County man remained missing five days after vanishing in the Suwannee River near Live Oak, Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron said.
According to Cameron, divers continue searching for him and plan to continue the search for as long as it takes.
Cameron said the unnamed white male, who is in his 30’s, was wading in chest deep water near a sand bar at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park on Saturday, June 14, when witnesses saw him vanish into the water. The high river level and rapid current has posed difficulties for authorities in the search, but the river has become more conducive to their efforts, Cameron explained.
The missing man was spending time with family members at the time of his disappearance, Cameron added.
