Nearly a week after a Hamilton County man disappeared into the Suwannee River near the sandbar at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, rescue workers still have not located the unnamed swimmer, according to Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron.

Cameron told the Suwannee Democrat that the Hamilton County man, who is in his 30s, was with family members on Saturday when he vanished into the river while wading in chest deep water.

Meanwhile, the identity and condition of “Jane Doe” remains unknown. The unidentified woman was discovered Monday morning about 30 feet off of the roadway, near the intersection of U.S. 90 and 153rd Road, west of Live Oak. Cameron said that it appeared she had been there overnight and her visible injuries didn’t reveal what may have happened to her. She was flown to an area hospital and is in a medically induced coma, Cameron said.

According to Cameron, the SCSO is networking with other law enforcement agencies to determine the identity of “Jane Doe.” At this point, nobody has come forth with her identity, he explained.

Cameron has not released a sketch of the female yet.

According to Cameron, the white female is about 20 to 30 years of age. She has blue eyes, brown hair and a tattoo of a wolf on her shoulder. Cameron said she is probably between five feet, four inches and five feet, seven inches in height and weighs about 120 pounds.

The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone who might know who she is to call 386-362-2222.
