Primary election
Ballot becoming more clear for general election
Precinct by precinct results coming Friday
The primary election has ended and the ballot for November is becoming more clear.
Andrew Decker III took most of the votes in Suwannee County for the Third Circuit judge Group 2 seat over challenger Rick Schutte IV, 6,147 votes to 1,463. For the Group 5 seat, Live Oak attorney Jimmy Prevatt took 4,141 of Suwannee County votes. Opponent Wes Douglas took 3,478 votes.
For Superintendent of Schools, incumbent Jerry Scarborough beat fellow Democrat Dianne Westcott 2,451 votes to 1,827. Scarborough will face Republican challenger David Laxton on Nov. 6.
Catherine Cason and School Board District 2 incumbent Muriel Owens will face each other for that seat on Nov. 6. Cason received 271 of the votes, Owens received 280 of the votes.
Walter Starling, Democrat, 587 votes, and Jason Bashaw, Republican, 525 votes, will square off in November for the County Commission District 1 seat.
For County Commission District 3, Paul Gamble, Democrat, 605 votes, will face off against Republican Richard Gamble Jr., 489 votes, on Nov. 6.
County Commission District 5 will see Kevin Williams, 358 votes, Democrat, challenge incumbent Wesley Wainwright, Republican, in November.
The U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives District 3 and Third Circuit Groups 2 and 5 races were not decided state and circuit wide as of press time. See those results online or in Friday’s paper.
