Back to School Bash is Saturday

The Suwannee Coalition is hosting its annual Back to School Bash in Live Oak, on Aug. 18, in the Suwannee High School Auditorium.
“We try to identify needs that have an impact on behavior and problems in the community. We want to help the students be prepared and ready for the first day of school. We also want to send a message to parents to be involved and get prepared as well,” Suwannee Coalition executive director Mary Taylor said.
The event is open to any Suwannee County resident and it will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
Students will receive a backpack with some school supplies. Taylor said that parents will have an additional opportunity to meet teachers and administration at the bash.
There will also be informational booths set up at the event from Vivid Visions Inc., Shady Grove Awanas, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, Suwannee County Health Department, Suwannee District Schools -Title I, Suwannee Primary School, Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, North Florida Community College, Pregnancy Care Center, Suwannee River Regional Library, Suwannee Parks and Recreation, Fish and Wildlife Commission, La Leche League of Live Oak, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Suwannee Intermediate School, Crimestoppers of Suwannee County, Go Figure ~for women~, The Music Center, Inc., Building Blocks Enrichment Center, TD Bank and First Federal Bank.
