Arrowhead Stadium in Ft. White this past Friday night was the location for the Bulldogs kickoff classic. Unfortunately, the ‘Dogs didn’t come out on top this time. The final score was 26-6.
In the first two minutes of the first quarter, it looked like the Indians were indeed on the war path after running the ball in from 27 yards. The Bulldogs stopped them from getting the extra point. A few plays later, the ‘Dogs fumbled at their 46 yard line and Ft. White was in possession again. Later in the first quarter the Indians, once again, scored a touchdown and secured the extra point putting the score at 13-0. Right before the end of the first, The ‘Dogs own number 24, Jai Kinsey, scored a touchdown which brought the score to 13-6.
A Ft. White pass to Trey Phillips and he runs the ball into the end zone for another touchdown bringing the score to 20-6. Near the end of the first half with 17 seconds on the clock, the Indians fumble, but recover and the half was wrapped up.
“After watching the film, we did some things better than I thought and some worse,” said Bulldog head coach Jamie Rodgers. “We can’t turn the ball over that many times and expect to win. We are going to find an identity on offense and stick to it.”
The Bulldogs turned the ball over four times Friday night.
The Indians continued to come on strong with yet another touchdown in the third quarter with the score 26-6. Through the the rest of the quarter, it’s back and forth with little yardage gained for either team. When the fourth quarter rolled around both teams’ coaches had made a prior agreement to let the Braves and the Pups (junior varsity teams) get a shot at the big time. The game ended with the Braves coming just four yards shy of another touchdown.
