John Blaine Fleming

Mr. John Blaine Fleming, 78, of Adel, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Dickenson County, Va., on Jan. 24, 1934, to the late Clint Isaac and Mintie Ethel (Sykes) Fleming. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force where he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. He then worked 23 years for the City of Adel Gas Department.
Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife, Sara Jones Fleming of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Don Fleming and Margaret Bodde of Montclair, N.J.; a daughter, Charlotte Fleming Hale, and her fiance, Donnie Guthrie, both of Adel; grandchildren, Clint and Katherine Hale of Fredericksburg, Va., Anna and John Fleming of Montclair, N.J.; a brother, Paul Fleming of Clintwood, Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Dean Lambert, Patricia Cox, Geraldine Buchanan, Anna White and Lloyd Fleming.
Mr. Fleming’s family will receive friends this evening, Jan. 11, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. John H. Stephens, III officiating.
