Rev. Cubit Johnson

Reverend Cubit Johnson of Lubbock- passed away on Dec. 29, 2012 in Lubbock Texas. He was born March 31, 1931 to Cora Joshua Johnson and Enondrus Johnson of Live Oak, Fla.  He attended Douglas High School,   He was married to Nelly Jean Anderson of Lake City, Fla. He worked for North Florida Telephone Company and Florida Dept of Agriculture until 1984. Rev Cubit Johnson was a member of New National Grove Baptist Church in Live Oak, FL  He was a pastor at Greenville Baptist Church in Greenville FL,  Asst Pastor at Springfield Baptist Church and African Baptist Church in Live Oak, Fla.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Albertha Johnson, son, Luther Johnson, son-in law-Dwight Hearn, brothers and sisters; Clotele, Irie, Ozzibell,Willie Mae,Cleo, Reginald , Eugene, Benny, Isaac, and Alfonso .  He is survived by his sisters, Albertha , Alice,  Lauretha  of Ft Lauderdale Fla., and Cleo, of Sanford and  brother, Charlie of Fayetteville, NC children;  Lorenzo of Atlanta GA, Johnny  of Savannah, GA, Dexter  of Chicago, IL, Cubit  of Lubbock, TX,  Denease of Lubbock, TX, Elise of Dallas TX, daughters-in law, Vicki, Laverne, Pia,  Denise and Rose,  18 grandchildren, 6-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sat.,  Feb. 9, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Live Oak.

M.L. Gill, 81, Live Oak, Fla. passed away on Tues-

day, Feb. 5, 2013 after a long illness. The life long resident of Live Oak retired from the City of Live Oak after 42 years as a street superintendent and was also a fireman. After retirement he worked at Piggly Wiggly and Winn-Dixie. Mr. Gill was a member of Westwood Baptist church were he served as a greeter and usher for many years. He is survived by his wife of sixty years: Rachel Gill, Live Oak, Fla.; one daughter: Renee Gill Feagle (Kenny), Land-O- Lakes, Fla.; two sons: Timothy John “Tim” Gill (Robin) , Live Oak, Fla., Charles Edward “Chuck” Gill, Live Oak, Fla.; one sister: Ruthie Lee Cameron, Valdosta, GA; one brother: J.M. Gill, Palatka, Fla., seven grandchildren: Kyle, Kelley (Lisa) , Tracie, Brian, Logan, Lawson, Kiera and one great-grandchild: Payton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Westwood Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family asks donations be made to the Westwood Baptist Church Building Fund 920 SW 11th Street Live Oak, Fla. 32064.
