J. Pierrepont Finch has ambitions. He works his way from window washer to chairman of an international corporation.
Finch does all of this with a little help from a book called “How to Succeed at Business Without Really Trying,” which is also the name of the Broadway musical that tells Finch’s tale.
Valdosta High School Drama presents “How to Succeed at Business Without Really Trying” this week.
Debuting on Broadway in the early 1960s with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, the musical won Tony awards and the Pulitzer Prize. In more recent years, the musical has enjoyed Broadway revivals.
For its success, VHS Drama Director Ricardo Ipina consolidates a cast of mostly senior student performers to bring Finch’s corporate world to life. The cast dances and sings backed by a live orchestra of VHS music students under the direction of Band Director Michael Thomas.
