Contractors will harvest timber on SRWMD lands over the next few months

Those who plan to visit the Suwannee River Water Management District’s Steinhatchee Springs and Steinhatchee Rise tracts over the next few months should be aware that workers are harvesting timber on a portion of these properties.
Steinhatchee Springs Tract (Lafayette, Dixie, and Taylor counties): Contractors began thinning timber on about 62 acres of a 212-acre timber sale on April 29, and harvest activities will continue for about a month. Steinhatchee Rise Tract (Dixie County): Contractors began thinning timber on about 229 acres of a timber sale on April 22, and harvest activities will continue for about four months.
Visitors taking advantage of recreational opportunities should exercise caution on the property and be aware that log trucks will be traveling in and out of the area. Signs are posted at the entrance of the timber harvest areas.
