Job descriptions have been submitted to the North Florida Workforce Development Board and applications could be accepted soon for Klausner Lumber One LLC, according to North Florida Workforce Director Sheryl Rehberg.

Rehberg has been involved in the catalyst site project for about seven years. Klausner Lumber One LLC, formerly known as Project Christmas, is soon to begin construction on a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art sawmill in Suwannee County near the interchange of US 90 West and I-10.
“Your site in Suwannee County was selected in a competitive process involving 14 counties,” Rehberg said. “Columbia and Suwannee counties were the only two selected.”
When the sawmill is in full operation, it is expected to produce up to 350 jobs. However, Rehberg emphasized this is a regional project.
“When it comes to our customers looking for work, our goal for them is ‘first placement, best placement.’ Sometimes that means going through a little bit of work to get them up to speed on how to look for a job, some assessments or workshops to help them in their decision making, or training opportunities.”
Rehberg said she has received 59 different job descriptions from Klausner.
“We have the templates in our system,” she said. “Once we are given the OK, the jobs will be visible to the people.”

Rehberg said the company has posted only three jobs so far: wood supply forester, wood supply manager, and human resources manager. According to Rehberg, those positions have been closed.
“The jobs posted have not been handled differently than other positions posted with us,” she said. “Candidates who did not meet the minimum qualifications were not referred to the job. Jobseekers who were either not qualified for those positions or wanted to prepare for upcoming positions are asked to completely register in Employ Florida Marketplace (job matching system) and to set up a virtual recruiter, keeping their information up to date so they will be notified when the company posts positions they are qualified for.”
She continued, “We do not recommend or promote one applicant over another, but rather facilitate the process for those job seekers to meet the businesses. In other words, we don’t ‘get you a job’ – we help you put yourself in a position to be considered by an employer.” To learn more visit www.nfworkforce.org/.
