County Administrator Randy Harris received a thumbs up from the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners to begin renovating the county’s public works department building.

Since the inauguration of the project, new carpet was installed as well as minor changes to the interior of the building.

With the improvements of the facilities, in an effort to save tax payer money, Harris made some changes to the placement of staff.

Prior to the renovations, all public works supervisors were provided an office space in the building. According to Harris, it’s standard procedure for supervisors to work from their truck and by doing so, it opened up several office spaces.

Within the coming weeks, Harris hopes to have four employees who currently work on the top floor of the county office building on Pine Avenue moved to the public works building.

“By not having to pay rent for that top floor, we’ll be saving the tax payers money,” Harris said.

The county will continue to utilize the first floor of the office on Pine Avenue.
