Jerold Price Johnson, 86, of Dayton, Tenn., died July 16,

 2013, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was born July 10, 1927, in Fort Smith, Ark., to the late Carl A. Johnson and Hazel (Rae) Johnson. Jerold has lived the past 38 years in Dayton, Tenn. and worked as a foreman in the bridge construction business. He served his country in the U.S. Army and is a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Jerold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence (Walker) Johnson, of Dayton; son, Jerold David (Ashley) Johnson, of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Christine M. White, of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Vicktoria White, Tanya Lyras, Jackson Johnson, Paris Johnson, Ashlynn (Aaron) Grindstaff, Austin Hedrick; and great-grandchildren, Kyra Lyras, Nicho Lyras, Zoe Lyras, Delia Lyras. Services for Jerold were held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Dayton. Burial will be in the Dayton City Cemetery. Forrest Ethel Manes Bair Howze

Forrest Ethel Manes Bair Howze, 94, of O’Brien, Fla. went home to be with her Lord on July 20 while surrounded by her family on the family’s farm. She was born in 1918 in Webb City, Missouri and was the eldest child of James Ralph and Velva Fern Greer Manes. She was a loving wife to Howard E. Bair of 49 years and bore him 4 children. Later in life she was married to Everette C. Howze for 15 years. 

Ethel spent most of her years living, working, and raising children in Belle Glade, Fla.She retired as a bank auditor after working 40 years at Everglades Federal Savings and Loan in Belle Glade.  She was also the treasurer of Bair’s Communications in Belle Glade; a family owned and operated business. She attended church faithfully with her husband at the Church of Christ of Belle Glade, Fla. In addition to enjoying her growing family of active grandchildren, she loved to play softball and card games with friends and family. On weekends and holidays, she and husband, Howard, relished trips working a farm in O’Brien purchased for their retirement years. After her husband Howard passed, she moved to north Fla, briefly living in Gainesville, then to O’Brien to spend time with family who lived there. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of McAlpin, Fla. where she enjoyed fellowship with her Christian family.

She is survived by her children, F. Wayne (Betty) Bair, Glenn E. (Donna) Bair, Sharon E. (Robert) Bair Richardson, and Ralph D. (Jeanetta) Bair, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.  Also, she is survived by her brother-in-law, John “Jack” Rashley Jr., 94, of Hiram, GA, the oldest living family member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sisters, Mary Manes Harrison, Varena Manes King, both of Alabama; brother, James F. Manes of O’Brien, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at Daniels Funeral Home, Live Oak, Fla. on Wednesday, July 24 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m. officiated by her son-in-law:  Pastor Bob Richardson and grandson:  Pastor Ronald L. Richardson.  The family will gather for a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26 in Port Mayaca Cemetery, Port Mayaca, Fla., where she will be interned beside her husband, Howard E. Bair.

Linda Margurette Money

Linda Margurette Money of Ocala, Fla. passed away at her home, June 8, 2013.

Margurette is survived by her son William J. Money III of Ocala, Fla., three grandchildren, Samantha, Jeanette, and Desiree Robbins of Smith Station, Ala.; brothers; Richard Putnel of Lake Alfred, Fla., Billy Putnel of Mayo, Fla., Sammy Putnel of Live Oak, Fla., Raymond Putnel of Lake City, Fla. and Wesley Putnel of Bartow, Fla.  and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Preceded in passing by her daughter Kimberly Lynn Robbins of Smith Station, Ala. and parents Sidney S. Putnel, Sr. and Ruby V. Putnel of Live Oak, Fla.

The family of Linda Margurette Money invite friends and family to join them in remembrance of her life in a tribute in her honor at the Clayland Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until  3 p.m. The family has requested donations be made to the church in lieu of flowers.

Wilber B Hatch

 

Nov. 20, 1929 – July 14, 2013

 

Wilber B Hatch, aged 83 years, went peacefully to be with his Lord on July 14, 2013 in Winter Garden, Fla. 

He was born on Nov. 20, 1929 in Erie, PA to Percy and Lelah Hatch. He grew up in Erie, enjoying life with his parents and younger brother, Ralph. After graduating from high school in 1947, he attended Anderson College, Anderson Indiana. Feeling called into pastoral ministry, he attended the Anderson School of Theology after graduating from college in 1951.  

During his senior year in college, Wilber met his future bride, Fay Benefield. They were married on Jan 6, 1953. That June, the newlyweds started their life of ministry in Eustis, Fla. From there, Wilber served as senior pastor in Church of God (Anderson, IN) churches throughout Florida and Alabama. They added to their family, daughters Diane, Darlene & Denise. 

Wilber is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fay; his three daughters and spouses, Diane & Alan Reed; Darlene & Kevin Wahaus; Denise & Bill Webb; his seven grandchildren and spouses, Rachel and Ryan Bertschman, Kyle Wahaus, David and Mallory Reed, Alyson Wahaus, Hannah Wahaus, Matthew and Emily Reed, and Ashley Webb; his three great-grandchildren, Noah, Katie & Isla. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. 

Services for Wilber Hatch will be held at 2 p.m. for visitation and 3 p.m. for the funeral, Saturday, July 27 at Chelsea Community Church, 4176 Highway 39, Chelsea, Al

Aldred J. Stangel

Aldred J. Stangel, 79, Baldwin , Fla. passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from a short illness. The Lakeland, GA native moved to Baldwin from Perry, Fla. thirty years ago. Mrs. Stangel is survived by her three daughters: Sally Delilah Smith, Jacksonville, Fla.; Paula Gail (Dave) Beach, Deland, Fla.; Teresa (Wayne) Adams, Jacksonville, Fla.; one son: Paul E. (Lisa) Garrison, Jr., McAlpin, Fla.; two sisters: Gladys Deese, Thomasville, Fla.; Mildred Hale, Plant City, Fla.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26 at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dyral Crites officiating.

Rev. Amos Edward Wimberley

 

March 20, 1920 – July 19, 2013

 

Amos Edward Wimberley died July 19, 2013 after a long struggle with congestive heart failure.

Rev. Wimberley is survived by his wife Oneal Wimberley and three sons Amos Darryl Wimberley and wife Doris of Austin, Texas, Edward Terrell “Terry” Wimberley of Naples, Fla., and David Merrill Wimberley and wife Cheryl Tallahassee, Fla. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was brother to now deceased sister Geneva Wimberley Colvin also of Mayo, Fla.

Rev. Wimberley was born on March 20, 1920 in Carbor, Fla. (Dixie County) and is the son of the late Henry Edward “Tink” Wimberley and Carrie Shaw Wimberley. Rev. Wimberley had a remarkable career as a teacher and Southern Baptist minister in and around Lafayette County, Fla. He pastored numerous churches in the region and ended his career as the pastor of Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Lafayette County for more than 33 years. Rev. Wimberley was a graduate of Dixie High School in Cross City. Rev. Wimberley earned his A.A. degree at Lake City Community College, a bachelor degree in education at The University of Florida and a master’s in education at Valdosta State University. He taught school in Suwannee and Lafayette Counties where he is fondly remembered by many former students. He retired at the age of 65 and had been ranching, farming and pastoring since. Rev. Wimberley was greatly beloved by his family and by the community. He was an unfailingly fair and generous man who gave of his time and energy to serve those in need, regardless of religious background or affiliation. He will also be remembered for his remarkable wit and warm sense of humor. 

His funeral will be conducted on Wednesday July 24 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Lafayette County located at Lafayette County Road 450, west of Branford, Fla. Visitation was scheduled for Tuesday July 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Paran Church.

Norma Jean Wilson Brock

 

Jan. 6, 1943 – July 20, 2013

 

Norma Jean Wilson Brock, age 70 of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Saturday evening July 20, 2013 at Suwannee Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was a native and life long resident of Live Oak.  Norma Jean will always be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and for the tender love and care she gave to anyone in need.  Her life revolved around her family, helping to raise two of her grandchildren and taking care of family members and others when they needed her.

She was predeceased by her parents Gary and Lela Wilson and two sisters, Marceline Ambrose and Patty Day.

She is survived by two sons, Zackery Brock and Clifton Brock both of Live Oak; three daughters, Patricia Kita, California; Lisa Kirby, Live Oak; Tonya (Bill) Cooper, Tifton, GA; one sister, Barbara Howland, Live Oak;  two brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Wilson and Jimmy (Joyce) Wilson both of Live Oak; 13 grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the Westwood Baptist Church while Dr. Shannon Day officiated. Internment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.

Max Loyd Denson

 

Feb. 25, 1930 – July 20, 2013

 

Max Loyd Denson, age 83 of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Saturday evening, July 20, 2013 at Lake City Medical Center.  He was born in Lindsey, Oklahoma moving to Live Oak in the mid 1980’s from Raiford, Fla. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired Correctional Officer with the State of Florida. He loved to fish and travel. Max enjoyed listening to and attending Gospel sings, but above all he dearly loved his family. His grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were his greatest joys.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Nell Ward Denson.

He is survived by one son, Max (Kim) Denson, Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter, Belinda (Bill) Tuten, Beverly Hills, Fla.; one brother, Rex Denson, Garden Grove, CA; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

William Jennings Winburn, Jr.

“Dub”

 

March 18, 1930 – July 20, 2013

 

William Jennings Winburn, Jr. “Dub” age 83, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City, Fla. following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lafayette County and lived most of his life in the Mayo, Live Oak area.  He was an Attorney and cattleman and a true cowboy who loved riding horses. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Mayo Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, William Winburn, Tallahassee, Fla.; Steve (Sandra) Winburn, Live Oak, Fla.; one brother Wayne “Bull” (Ruth) Winburn, Mayo, Fla.; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Tyler) Jordan, Tyler Winburn, Emily Winburn, Rebekah Winburn.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Mayo Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the Mayo Baptist Church with Rev. Rick James officiating. Interment will follow in the Wayfare Cemetery in Mayo.
