Hamilton County school bus involved in wreck

- This Ford Expedition struck the rear of a school bus Wednesday morning on US 41. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to FHP.
Three Hamilton County school students were sent to area hospitals for possible injuries Wednesday morning following a crash between a Hamilton County school bus and a Ford Expedition on US 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, there were 19 students on board the 2007 Thomas school bus when a 2005 Ford Expedition struck its rear as it was stopped with its stop lights illuminated and stop sign deployed actively loading students.
The Ford, driven by 32-year-old Nicole Barton, Lake Park, Ga., was driving southbound on US 41 approaching the rear of the bus, about 300 feet north of Mary Street, when it struck the rear.
Barton suffered minor injuries, according to FHP, and was transported from the scene by Hamilton County EMS to South Georgia Medical Center.
Two students were transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center and a third was sent to South Georgia Medical Center for possible injuries.
The bus driver, Anthony Hawkins, received no injuries, according to FHP.
The ages of the students involved were not released.
