Live Oak man pleads guilty to second degree murder of mother

Kenneth Hooker, 44, was arrested on Monday night for the fatal stabbing of his mother. Hooker has been charged with second degree murder.

A Live Oak man accused of stabbing his mother to death pleaded guilty to second degree murder in a Suwannee County courtroom on Monday, according to the Suwannee County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office. 

Kenneth Hooker, 44, 14439 201st Rd., Live Oak, reportedly stabbed his mother, Rose Lawson, to death on March 25, 2013. Hooker said that they had been fighting and the reason he stabbed her was because he just wanted her to listen to him.

Following the incident that occurred around 8 p.m. March 25, Hooker did not call 911 for any medical help. Lawson died as a result of the injury to her chest.

Hooker admitted to stabbing his mother and revealed the weapon he used to law enforcement officers.

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2014.
